tooloutbox.dev

A local-first durable outbox for tool writes: persist an intended write before acknowledgement, and after a crash recover the pending write and reconcile its uncertain effect before any retry.

What it does

tooloutbox is a durable, crash-recoverable outbox for tool writes. It persists an intended write to a write-ahead log before acknowledgement, so a process that dies mid-flight can, on restart, recover the pending write and reconcile the uncertain external effect before it ever retries. Writes are applied at most once; the receipt store is tamper-evident and re-attestable offline from the log alone.

How it works → the full persist → apply → commit → reconcile model

Try it locally (free)

No account, no hosted service. Clone the repository and run the acceptance suite and CLI against local fixtures. The same steps are spelled out on the install page.

git clone https://github.com/gitdhillonai/tooloutbox.dev.git
cd tooloutbox.dev
npm test

# Run a fixture through the outbox core and emit the evidence report
node src/cli.mjs run tests/fixtures/positive.json --wal /tmp/outbox.log

# Re-attest the persisted receipt store offline, from the log alone
node src/cli.mjs verify /tmp/outbox.log

The report distinguishes three verdicts — pass, fail, and unknown — and the CLI exits 0/2/3 to match.

Status

This is pre-release engineering. The local core and acceptance gate are implemented and tested; a hosted history dashboard is planned only after authentication, isolation, and retention/deletion tests land. No paid plan is active and no usage metrics are claimed here.
